At Sienna Moon, we believe strongly in spreading LOVE by giving back to our world community.
Sienna Moon / Circle Of Health Mama’s + Babies At The Border
Funds raised through this campaign will enable COHI to put the clinical volunteers that they have currently on stand-by on planes to meet the caravans heading towards the US and to provide funding for the volunteer clinicians staffing a clinic at the Texas/US border caring for 500 mamas + babies separated by ICE/border patrol upon their release. Mamas + babies cared for by COHI in Syria, Sierra Leone, Haiti, and Nepal will also receive support from funds raised during this campaign.
Circle of Health / Nepal Project
Circle of Health International is an Austin-based international humanitarian aid organization providing quality maternal, reproductive, and newborn health care in crisis settings. Since 2004, they have been aligning with local, community-based leaders in crisis-afflicted areas all over the world to provide volunteers, training, supplies and funding where they are needed most.
Circle of Life is currently focusing their efforts in Nepal in the wake of the devastating earthquake. As summarized by Circle of Life:
- A 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Nepal on April 25th, 2015, destroyed lives, homes, historic monuments, and infrastructure; the second 7.3 magnitude earthquake only days later destroyed any sense of security people had left, leaving them not only injured, mourning, and homeless, but also deeply traumatized. There have been frequent aftershocks since.
- More than 8,500 people were killed in the first, two major quakes.
- More than a million people have been left homeless.
- Before the earthquakes, 7,000 to 10,000 Nepali girls between the ages of 9 and 16 were trafficked and sold into prostitution every year. More than 200,000 Nepali girls are believed to be victims of human trafficking. The countless women and children now living on the streets since the earthquakes will be even more vulnerable to exploitation and sexual slavery.
Circle of Life is working with a team of Nepalese experts to assess the country’s most urgent needs. Working with local, community-based, and female-led partners, they are focused on the health, mental health, and safety needs of women and children.
Sienna Moon is honored to support Circle of Health and their efforts in Nepal. Proceeds from each Sienna Moon sale will help support the survivors of this terrible disaster as they rebuild their families and communities.
Get One Give One
For our initial philanthropic project, we are thrilled to announce our “Get One Give One” launch celebration in partnership with Girls on Fire Leadership Camp. This Kenyan philanthropic organization benefits underprivileged girls from the Kibera slums in Nairobi. During the 2014 Christmas holiday weeks, Eileen Flannigan and her team will take the girls on a learning-packed road trip to experience some of the wonders of their own country, and to interact with Kenya’s strong communities and leaders.
For every tee purchased from SiennaMoonLA.com, we will donate one tee and $2.00 to this incredible organization. Help us dress every Girls on Fire girl in a beautiful, empowering tee as a lasting memory of their camp journey.
